Woman stabbed, two suspects arrested

Two men were nabbed in the capital’s Tuol Kork district on Thursday, a day after allegedly stabbing a woman several times before stealing her motorbike. Police said the victim was taking a walk with one of the suspects, who was thought to be her boyfriend, when he stabbed her numerous times. The victim’s boyfriend then allegedly met up with an accomplice and made off with the victim’s motorbike. The victim was able to phone for help before she fell unconscious and was transported to the hospital, where she is recovering from her wounds. The two suspects were arrested when they attempted to pawn the motorbike on Thursday. Koh Santepheap

Homeowner robbed and shot in the capital  

After being robbed at gunpoint, a 50-year-old man was shot on Sunday in Phnom Penh’s Dangkor district. Police said the victim was visiting his home, which was under construction, when he was held at gunpoint by two men. The suspects shot the victim and made off with two of his rings, as well as US$2,000. The victim was hospitalised and police said they are searching for the suspects. Koh Santepheap

Motorist stabbed in the middle of the street

An elderly man was arrested on Friday night in the capital’s Russei Keo district after allegedly stabbing a motorist for honking his horn. Police said the suspect, 76, was standing in the middle of the road when a man, who was attempting to get around the suspect, honked his horn. The suspect, reported to be infuriated by the horn honk, allegedly stabbed the victim, 49, one time in the waist before he was subdued by residents in the area. Rasmei Kampuchea

Group of teens beat man outside his home

In Kampong Chhnang town, a 42-year-old man was hospitalised on Saturday after he was allegedly beaten up in front of his home by a group of teenagers. Police said the victim attempted to intervene in an argument the teenagers were having, when they beat him severely before fleeing the scene. Kampuchea Thmey

Duo accused of trying to rob police officer

One alleged thief was arrested, while another attempted to evade police on Friday night in the capital’s Por Sen Chey district. Police said the two suspects attempted to steal a motorbike from the house of a military police officer, when they were caught by a neighbour. One of the suspects managed to flee as the other was taken into custody. Police said the suspect they arrested was just released from prison late last month on illegal drug charges. Koh Santepheap
