Prime Minister Hun Sen at the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation meeting in Phnom Penh yesterday.

Seven members of a cockfighting ring were picked up by police during a raid in Kampong Cham town on Sunday.

The gambling men and women were part of a much larger group, many of whom were able to escape.

Police, acting on a tip-off from a nosy neighbour, also confiscated 10 motorbikes and five fighting cocks.

The seven have been detained and will have to pledge to police that they will not continue to participate in the blood sport if they want to be released and not end up in a cage like their feathered friends.
