Police on the hunt for capital city scammers

Police are on the lookout for seven fraudsters after the victim of a scam at a market in Phnom Penh’s Por Sen Chey district fell hook, line and sinker for a trick that involved one of them picking up a bag (dropped surreptitiously by an accomplice) and exclaiming “It’s gold!”.

The tricksters then invited their 26-year-old prey to accompany them to a remote location, supposedly to share their good fortune, but instead robbed her of her jewellery, a phone and some cash.
