Pupil to see if jail truly worse than school

A grade 11 student who rejected the life of the mind for a life of crime was arrested in Phnom Penh’s Daun Penh district on Friday night after he and a mate allegedly snatched a foreigner’s bag whilst on a motorbike.

Police gave chase and the 19-year-old’s accomplice escaped on foot, but the hooky-playing student was nabbed and confessed to having snatched bags with his partner in crime twice before.

His thieving spree had caused him to miss two days of classes, he said.
