Repeat rip-and-run artist apprehended

A woman, 50, was apprehended on Friday for allegedly stealing 9 million riel ($2,240) in Tbong Khmum’s Memot district. According to police, the woman went to a local market and attempted to exchange US dollars for riel at a money changer.

But when the owner, 67, was examining the cash, the suspect reportedly grabbed the riel from his bag and ran. Market security guards chased the thief down. The woman ultimately confessed to having pulled the same trick before. DEUM AMPIL
