Reveller’s Year of Horse gets off to a rough start

Lunar New Year celebrations turned violent in Takeo province on Friday when two brothers from Vietnam attacked another of their countrymen on their way home from a heavy drinking session.

Police said the suspects, aged 35 and 27, took to the man – whom they argued with last month – with a wooden stick, causing injuries to his arms and face.

Villagers intervened, alerting the police and taking the victim to hospital. The brothers claimed they had been “too drunk to control themselves”. DEUM AMPIL
