Robbery rookies caught after first time at bat

Three men’s first foray into necklace robbery on Wednesday ended in serious injury in the capital.

Police said the men, aged 20, 24 and 26, targeted a 20-year-old university student, waiting for him in a quiet place, then pouncing on him and beating him with a stick.

Despite his injuries, the victim was able to shout for help, but the robbers seized his necklace before police arrived.

A subsequent police chase netted the three men, though, and a confession soon followed. Nokorwat
