A 25-year-old construction worker was arrested in Phnom Penh’s Por Sen Chey district yesterday morning after allegedly threatening to attack his lover’s disapproving mother with a samurai sword.

The mother had told the suspect to cease relations with her daughter. In response, the suspect got drunk, retrieved the samurai sword and headed towards the mother’s house.

But the mother had already called the police, who arrested the suspect before any violence could occur.
