Smartphones smarter than witless thieves

One of two would-be cat burglars landed in jail on Saturday due to his poor understanding of technology.

The thief, a 28-year-old, and his accomplice broke through the rooftop of a residential villa, climbed inside and made off with three smartphones and some cash.

Unluckily for the thief, the phones were GPS-enabled, which allowed the police to track their location and catch up with him in Sen Sok district.

He has since been brought to Tuol Kork police station.
