Suspects play odds and lose with ill-fated jump

Cornered, a pair of women running numbers in the capital’s Tuol Kork district took a leap of faith on Monday, jumping from a first storey ledge in a bid for freedom.

It didn’t work, according to police.

Authorities were acting on a complaint from locals, who said the illegal lottery being run out of the home had customers filing in and out all day long.

Along with the two women, five customers were arrested, but let go after signing a contract pledging to give up the lottery.
