Spirituality was in short supply in Sa’ang district, Kandal province, on Friday night when two Pchum Ben festival-goers were attacked by a pair of stick-wielding thugs as they drove their motorbikes to a pagoda.

The garment workers, 18 and 21, ran for their lives, abandoning their bikes, which were damaged with stones and sticks.

Police say revenge is suspected as a motive. One suspect, 22, has been identified.
