Theft comes back to bite snatcher’s sticky fingers

An opportunistic thief in Preah Sihanouk province must have thought he’d got away with stealing a mobile phone and passport three weeks ago, after it was left at a food stall on the island of Koh Rong while its owner went for a stroll.

But local cops hadn’t given up the hunt and finally caught up with him on Saturday. The thief said he’d carried out the crime because he didn’t make enough money to get by from his regular job. The items were returned to their owner and the thief sent to court. DEUM AMPIL
