Thieves just can’t run the way they used to

An opportunistic thief almost became a millionaire in Kampong Cham’s Srei Santhor district on Wednesday, after scarpering with a cash-stuffed bag left on the seat of a lorry.

The owner had reportedly left the bag in the truck’s cab while he made repairs, and looked up to see the 23-year-old thief scampering off.

Apparently he wasn’t travelling fast, because his 67-year-old victim caught up, recovered the bag and his 1 million riel ($250), and held him until cops arrived.
