American linguistics professor Gerard Diffloth, who has taught at the University of Chicago and Cornell University, will give a talk Friday night in Siem Reap on new discoveries about the Kuay language. Recent research in historical linguistics shows that the Kuay language, a branch of the Mon-Khmer family, descends from a very ancient historical line predating pre-Angkorian times. The talk, in English, will begin at 6:30pm at the Ecole Francaise d'Extreme-Orient (EFEO), Siem Reap.
