Two of Phnom Penh’s finest boutique hotels are offering a joint Valentine’s package whereby guests can have a day spa at The Villa Paradiso on Street 222 followed by a romantic dinner at The Governor’s House on Mao Tse Tung Boulevard, just past the corner of Norodom Boulevard.

For $330, the couple’s day starts out at The Villa Paradiso on Street 222, where they are greeted with a glass of champagne and then treated by aroma therapy massage, facials, the pool and the Jacuzzi.

By late afternoon, the couple will be taken by limousine to The Governor’s House, which is owned by Belgian antique dealer Alain Garnier, where the couple will be treated to a dinner consisting of Valentine's love bites, passion and scallops carpaccio, green mango and kampot pepper sorbet, duck breast with ginger wine coulis, aphrodisiac Belgian chocolate parade.

For those who just want to take the Valentine’s Day dinner, without the spa package, the cost is $100 for the couple including a bottle of champagne.

While whole couple’s package that includes the day spa, massage, a limousine ride, dinner and a room at The Governor’s House costs $330, Philipp and Sandra Hoffmann, owners of The Villa Paradiso, say men can also just give ladies a day spa package for $55. Alternatively, a man can give his lady a day spa, for $55 and then he can join her for dinner later at The Governor’s House for $100 for the couple.

Alain Garnier, who opened the Governor’s House six months ago, became friends with Villa Paradiso owners Philipp and Sandra Hoffmann, and saw the possibility for synergies between the two boutique hotels at the upper end of the market.

Couples can come in the morning or afternoon the The Villa Paradiso, have a welcome drink and the Valentine’s Day special spa package, for $55. “Men can give this as a present to a lady,” Hoffmann said.

Since the Hoffmanns and Garnier became friends as owners of specialised boutique hotels, they help each other by sending guests back and forth for spa treatment at The Villa Paradiso or dinner at the Governor’s House.

Today, if The Villa Paradiso is fully booked, the Hoffmans send guests to The Governor’s House, because they know the guests will feel comfortable in a similar boutique hotel.

Sandra Hoffmann says the concept at The Villa Paradiso is an oasis in the city where people can be complete disconnected and have a Zen attitude.

“We want our guests to feel like they are part of the family, welcomed, and at the same time pampered with luxury.”

For Alain Garnier of The Governor’s House, the differentiation comes with the antiques, from the chandelier in the lobby to wardrobes from Versailles and European silver dinner service sets make the atmosphere unlike anywhere else in Phnom Penh.

“Alain has the touch for the details and for the art, so you enjoy the surrounding of the decorations, like a museum, with the comfort in a boutique hotel which is extremely unusual. You could be in Paris. The Governor’s House gives you along with this antique and colonial feeling a very comfortable, luxurious accommodation.”

Sandra Hoffman says of Garnier: “He’s known by all art dealers, and he’s known by all families. The beauty of him is his joy of living and simplicity,” she said.

The Hoffmanns and Garnier take care of each other’s property if one or the other have to leave town.

“If Alain is travelling, we are at The Governor’s House and if he has parties, we send our staff here,” Sandra Hoffmann said. The package offerings run from today (February 14th) to the 28th.

The Villa Paradiso can be contact through their website or by phone at 023 213 720 and The Governor’s House may also be contacted through their own website or by phone at 023987025.
