A congested set of midweek fixtures produced some intriguing results for Gameweek 24 of the CC/PPP/CTN Fantasy League. With nearly half of all fantasy manager across the globe selecting Man United’s Robin van Persie in their line-up, it was perhaps poetic justice that the Flying Dutchman failed to get off the ground in their game against lowly Southampton, while his striking partner Wayne Rooney stormed back into form.

The round’s top pick, however, was Everton defender Leighton Baines, who put two past West Brom, including completing a perfect 10th straight successful penalty conversion of his Toffees career to amass 17 fantasy points.

Red-hot midfielder Juan Mata of Chelsea scored one and set up another for 14 points, while Rooney notched a brace to yield 13 points.

The gameweek was won by Daniel Heath with his side ASAP on 85 points. Daniel’s lack of hesitation to opt for Mata as captain for 28 points helped pave the way for victory, while squad choices of Baines, West Ham’s Kevin Nolan (9) and Arsenal’s Theo Walcott (8) also proved the difference.

Daniel will rush to collect his prizes of a $20 phone voucher and T-shirt from sponsors Cellcard.

Gameweek 25 comes along thick and fast, with all teams in action over the weekend and culminating in a blockbuster clash between Man City and Liverpool. Transfer deadline is the usual 6:30pm tomorrow evening.
