After the short summer break between various competitions for football fans, the English Premier League returns on August 18.

Accompanying the action is the rebranded CC/PPP/CTN Fantasy League, which once again will reward aspiring managers for superlative selections.

Local mobile phone company and sponsors Cellcard have teamed up with the Phnom Penh Post and CTN TV station to offer even more prizes this season.

In addition to the usual weekly prize of a US$20 phone voucher and T-shirt and the overall winner’s prize of a new 3.5G iPad, SIM card and T-shirt, the top three placers in the standings at the half way point (between gameweek 19 and 20) will receive a Cellcard Wifi router and T-shirt each. The top 10 managers at both the half way stage and end of season will be invited to join a Cellcard-sponsored party to celebrate their league successes.

Reports on the league can be followed in the Post’s weekly roundups and CTN broadcasts, while fans can also obtain news and information, participate in online debates and share their thoughts on the newly formed facebook fanpage (www.facebook.com/ Cellcard.Fantasy).

To join the CC/PPP/CTN Fantasy League, simply set up a squad at www.fantasy.premierleague.com and use the code 271307-77114. To register your team, email your manager name, team name, real name, Cambodian phone number and occupation to dan.riley@phnompenhpost.com. You may also register via the Facebook fanpage by means of sending a private message.

Only registered teams with be eligible for Cellcard prizes. Already established teams from the previous seasons do not need to reregister unless the manager’s phone number has changed. MobiTel, Phnom Penh Post and CTN employees will not be allowed to collect prizes.

In the case of a tie in points total during a gameweek, the manager with the least transfers that week will be awarded the prize. If the transfers are the same, the prize will be split into two $10 vouchers.

A maximum of four transfers per gameweek is permitted, regardless of wildcards, to be eligible for prizes.

All participants must register their team prior to a winning gameweek, with deadline for the first gameweek set at 5:30pm Cambodian time on Saturday August 18.

Individuals can register as many teams as they want as long as a different phone number is given for each side. However, managing multiple teams in the hope of a greater chance of success is discouraged and against the spirit of competition.

Managers without a Cambodian phone number, such as those living overseas, may donate their prizes to a person of their choice by providing the benefactor’s phone number on registration. Any foreign teams that do not register will be deleted from the table after a week of warning.

Brenda Wade’s side AV Cambodia is back to retain her title despite threatening retirement over the summer. Hopefully, fantasy managers have learnt from her tactics and use of tipster website www.fantasyfootballcheat.co.uk.

But can anyone break the stranglehold the Wade clan maintain over the league? We look forward to some healthy competition this campaign, and hopefully a new champion.
