Thailand’s superlative run at the 2012 AFC Futsal Championship continued on Wednesday as they edged 10-time winners Iran 5-4 after extra time in their semifinal to book a clash with Japan in today’s final in Dubai.

2006 winners Japan cruised through to the final with a 3-0 rout of Australia, who will face reigning champions Iran in a third place playoff today.

Thailand’s Suphawut Thueanklang and Iran’s Ali Asghar Hassanzadeh currently top the scoring charts with seven goals a piece at the tournament, which started a week ago.
