Strong Cambodian team falls to S Korean visitors

Even though the Cambodian Football Federation fielded a team of all U22, U23 and senior players in the friendly against South Korea’s Hwaseong FC, the hosts couldn’t find a win to keep the fans happy.

In a ticketed match at Svay Rieng’s stadium on Saturday, Sun Sovanrithy scored a headed goal from a cross by Chhin Chhoeun to give Cambodia a 1-0 lead on 23 minutes.

Hwaseong equalised 12 minutes later. Striker Khoun Laboravy put Cambodia back in front on 43 minutes, but the Koreans equalised just before halftime to see the sides go in on equal terms.

In the second half, Cambodia couldn’t find the back of the net again but the visitors went on to score three times to finish 5-2 winners.
