Vigilantes form equal-opportunity violent mob

A woman who pickpocketed a shopper in the capital’s Daun Penh district on Wednesday had to be sent to hospital before the police station after she was subjected to the customary walloping that bystanders offer suspected thieves.

The victim of the theft said she was buying food at the market when the pickpocket took cash out of her pocket. She screamed for help and a security guard chased down the suspect. Market vendors and bystanders then set upon the woman before police arrived. KAMPUCHEA THMEY
