A SUBSIDIARY of Singapore-listed Malaysian healthcare group Health Management International (HMI) opened a representative office in Phnom Penh on Friday to entice wealthy Cambodians abroad for medical treatment. Mahkota Medical Centre (MMC) Director of Clinical Support Services Christine Lee said the company’s research showed that around 2 percent of Cambodia’s 14 million population were candidates for treatment abroad. Singapore, Thailand, South Korea and Vietnam are the most popular destinations, she said. HMI has two hospitals in Malaysia and 14 representative offices in Indonesia, Malaysia and now Cambodia.
