Phillip Wong – edotco chief regional officer for Cambodia and Laos – speaks of the importance of the recent Cambodia Tech Expo 2022 (CTX 2022) and the strength of science, technology and innovation in the Kingdom. Established in 2012, edotco Cambodia is part of the edotco Group, Asia’s leading integrated telecommunications infrastructure company.
Does edotco Cambodia participate in activities related to science, technology and innovation?
Committed to supporting innovation, we also participated in Digital Cambodia 2019. This commitment to innovation is also seen in our efforts to reinforce sustainable and green engineering, with edotco Cambodia set to use bamboo in the construction of our telecom towers.
This has been developed in collaboration with the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC).
The research and development by ITC focused on the design and viability of bamboo for use as an alternative material to traditional steel structures in telecommunications.
The company experiments with materials and innovative solutions to address the challenges of the telecommunications infrastructure industry. We work with our clients to support their communications and infrastructure building needs.
With more than 4,000 mobile towers across the Kingdom, edotco Cambodia has been successful in building and deploying many “Monopoles” to improve the quality of service (QOS) – mobile network coverage – for Cambodians.
The company is committed to promoting sustainable design and innovation that works in harmony with communities and the environment in the Kingdom.
What does edotco Cambodia think was the importance of CTX 2022?
CTX 2022 was a major event organised in conjunction with the ASEAN Summit, which Cambodia is hosting. We are very proud to have been a part of it.
It was an important event, with the first of the annual programme focusing on excellence in technology, the economy and the digital society, as well as Industry 4.0.
It was a great opportunity for participants to attend the panel discussions and experience sharing sessions between experts, as well as discover the ecosystem and the potential of science, technology and innovation.
It also provided a fantastic chance for those in attendance to expand knowledge and business networks, and explore investment opportunities.
What inspired edotco to take part in and sponsor this event?
As a side event of the ASEAN Summit 2022 and one of Cambodia’s largest ever tech expo and conferences, it was a great opportunity for all relevant parties.
Building frameworks and procedures to support new trends, Cambodia views the digital economy as a new source of growth.
As a company, edotco Cambodia is pleased to collaborate with all related partners for the benefit of Cambodians, especially in the fields of telecommunications and ICT – information and communication technology.
What do you think the annual CTX will contribute to the Kingdom, particularly in the field of science, technology and innovation?
CTX will become a platform to develop business networks among start-ups, MSMEs, industries and investors. It will also promote science, technology and innovation.
It’s a part of big campaign to raise awareness and develop common proposals and frameworks, and to carry out joint research.
