In a bid to support trade activity, the Ministry of Commerce has asked local firms to apply for certificates of legal representation for import-export documents.

The Export-Import Department of the General Department of Trade Services will accept applications for the certificate from March 9 to April 30.

“Those who wish to become legal representatives for the import-export documents can download the registration form and other documents at www.co.moc.gov.kh,” the ministry said in a press release.

Cambodia Chamber of Commerce vice-president Lim Heng said the measure will make the process of issuing import-export documents more efficient.

“It will prevent foreign companies from posing as Cambodian companies to receive preferential treatment,” he said.

In the first 11 months of 2019, the Ministry of Commerce registered 78 garments, footwear and bag factories under the preferential trade system.
