Maybank Cambodia once again named Best International Bank at Asiamoney awards

Maybank Cambodia was once again awarded Best International Bank Cambodia 2022 at the Asiamoney Best Bank Awards, making this the third consecutive win.

The honour comes in recognition of its commitment to making a positive impact to the community and delivering excellent customer service by innovating and elevating the banking experience of its retail and business banking customers.

This is in addition to the recent Euromoney Market Leaders 2022 ranking announcement, which recognised Maybank Cambodia as a “Market Leader” in corporate and social responsibility and "Highly Regarded" in the digital banking and SME banking segments.

“This recognition acknowledges our commitment to delivering excellent customer service by innovating and elevating the banking experience of our retail and business banking customers, while supporting the marginalised and disadvantaged members of the community through education, economic empowerment and financial inclusion” said Maybank Cambodia CEO Rath Sophoan.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Maybank Cambodia has worked closely with SMEs and individuals to help sustain their businesses and strengthen their livelihoods through financial assistance plans and advisory services.

Maybank has also partnered with the SME Bank of Cambodia on SME Bank Co-Financing Schemes and the Credit Guarantee Corporation of Cambodia (CGCC) on Co-Financing Credit Schemes.

These provide affordable interest rates on SME loans and credit guarantee schemes that act as collateral to reduce the asset demand of collateral to SME borrowers.

Maybank and CGCC have also collaborated to develop the SME market through capacity building efforts by providing business support instruments and relevant technical advisory based on international best practices to support SME growth, productivity and innovation through the SME Building Capacity and Capability Programme.

Maybank’s superior FX services for international trade and its continuous enhancement of its digital regional cash management system, Maybank2E (M2E), gives its corporate and commercial customers access to competitive prices for foreign exchange and greater efficiency in managing their cash flow.

In 2021, the number of clients registering for M2E grew 48 per cent year on year.

Maybank, in collaboration with the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC), also launched a low-cost peer-to-peer platform for the remittance of funds in real time between Malaysia and Cambodia via Maybank Malaysia’s MAE app and the NBC’s Bakong e-wallet.

This is in line with the bank’s sustainability commitments in driving greater financial inclusion.

Recently, Maybank Secure2u, a best-in-class secure verification option and a first in Cambodia, was introduced, providing a safer and more convenient way to authorise transactions on the Maybank2u app and with online banking.

This is in addition to the introduction of the QR Pay service through KHQR, enabling a seamless and safer cashless payment experience.

Despite the prolonged pandemic, Maybank Cambodia has continued to sustain its community empowerment initiatives, such as providing training and capacity building to poor and marginalised weavers and farmers through the Maybank Women Eco-Weavers programme.

The bank teaches children financial literacy through the Cashville Kidz programme, and supports underprivileged students at the People Improvement Organisation with monthly sponsorship and engagement support from Maybank staff.

“Centred on our mission of 'Humanising Financial Services', Maybank continues to focus on accelerating its long-term competitive advantages for the communities we serve in.

"The introduction of our digital products and services platforms are a testament to our commitment to realising our M25 plan by being pervasively digital and ensuring that all our stakeholders remain sustainable,” said Sophoan.

Maybank Cambodia has always been recognised for its leading role in innovating product offerings to SMEs, as well as providing digital solutions and financial inclusion in Cambodia.

In addition to the recognition from Asiamoney and the "Market Leader" ranking by Euromoney, Maybank Cambodia also won a number of prestigious awards for 2022.

The leading financial services provider collected International Retail Bank of the Year-Cambodia at the Asian Banking & Finance Retail Banking Awards 2022.

It also won Best Retail Bank Cambodia at the Retail Banker International Asia Trailblazer Awards 2022.
