Banteay Meanchey provincial officials may open a new cargo-only border

crossing to allow the Poipet International Checkpoint to be kept

exclusively for tourist travel, officials say. Ung Oeun, governor of

Banteay Meanchey province, said that the border crossing with Thailand

had become too busy, prompting authorities to select two potential

sites for a new trade-only route. The two sites being considered are

less than three kilometres north of the Poipet checkpoint.
