CamEd Business School students in Phnom Penh brought extra joy to the Khmer New Year celebrations with the Khmer Cultural Festival on April 10. The colourful festival held at the Institute of Technology of Cambodia was the eighth such event organised by the CamEd Student Government. The one-day programme was packed with cultural activities, including Buddhist ceremonies, traditional games, Apsara dance and Trud Chai Yam performances, Lakhon Khol – Khmer masked theatre and puppet shows – local dance performances and fashion shows, with traditional music performed by persons with disabilities. Project director of the cultural festival Lim Vichtorika said the event served to preserve and promote the rich age-old heritage inherited by Cambodia’s younger generation from their ancestors. The student association also raised funds from ticket sales for the event, which will be donated to support schools in need. PHOTOS SUPPLIED
