Social Secretary to the Ambassador


The Embassy of Sweden in Phnom Penh is seeking applications to fill the following position:

Position Title : PA/Social Secretary to the Ambassador
Conditions : 8 months (temporary position), 100% full time, starting as soon as possible
Salary range : USD 1 000 – 1 500 /month (gross salary). Salary dependent the candidate’s past relevant experience.

1. Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Ambassador, the PA/Social Secretary will be responsible for the following duties:
• Social Secretary to the Ambassador and manage the Ambassador’s calendar
• Responsible for Protocol matters and contacts with government and government agencies, including all diplomatic notes and other official correspondence
• Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence
• Manage visitors’ programmes
• Perform a wide range of administrative, secretarial and financial support activities for the Ambassador
• Second-hand responsibility for financial administration/cashier
• Perform other duties when required.
The work requires an ability to independently perform duties, including taking initiatives and assuming responsibility for the completion and delivery of individual tasks.
In carrying out the duties, the PA/Social Secretary shall closely liaise with the other staff at the Administrative and Consular Section, as well as the Development Cooperation Section.
2. Essential Qualifications:
Education: University degree in business administration, communication, economics, languages, social sciences or related fields.
Experience: At least 5 years of experience in similar roles in international organizations, embassies or large non-governmental organizations.
Knowledge/skills: Excellent intra-personal skills. Service-minded. Analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills. Ability to independently perform duties and to ensure the delivery and completion of tasks with attention to details, also under periods of high work load. Communication skills. Flexibility and ability to prioritise tasks. Solid planning skills. Outgoing, motivated and willing to learn new things. Ability to adapt to a different cultural environment and to changing responsibilities. Strong skills in Microsoft Office programs incl. Word and Excel.
Language: Excellent command of the English and Khmer language, both orally and in writing. Nordic language skills is an asset.

The Embassy of Sweden in Cambodia has a total of 16 staff. The main tasks are to: (i) represent Sweden in Cambodia and to strengthen and further develop bilateral relations; (ii) implement the cooperation strategy for the development cooperation with Cambodia; (iii) monitor and report on the political and economic development; (iv) promote trade and exchanges as well as other Swedish interests; (v) discharge statutory administrative duties.
