One of Japan’s leading brewers, Asahi, says it will raise its prices in the Kingdom to fall in line with its international market positioning, and that it may make acquisitions in the region.

More than 1,000 copies of Phnom Penh’s only street directory have been sold since its launch a year ago, according to the publishers Pocket Guide (Cambodia).

The price of StreetWise has been reduced from US$5 to US$3 ahead of a revised future edition of the only indexed street directory to the capital, mapped out in collaboration with Aruna Technology, Cambodia’s leading geomatics company.

Pocket Guide Director Dean Lennox explained that compiling the directory took plenty of painstaking work. It also highlights informative stories to help city residents navigate their way around.

Included are tips on buying a vehicle, traffic laws, postcodes, districts, while the 16 maps are extensively dotted with landmarks such as banks, shopping centres, hospitals, pharmacies and markets.

There’s also inside knowledge of which streets are prone to floods during the monsoon season, and a glossary to Khmer phrases to help you navigate your way around the city better.

Visitors and residents alike should find the StreetWise guide invaluable for keeping them on the right track. It’s on sale at Monument Books, Total petrol stations, Lucky supermarkets and selected mini-markets in Phnom Penh. The next edition is likely to include Siem Reap and Sihanoukville, added Lennox.
