In uniforms of university student, Yong Yev and other four members hand a white triangle clothes to about 100 students of Department of Media and Communication. Yong Yev and other members are conducting a first aid course in a room with two air-conditions, but still they are sweating; today is a practice day. Sor Phorn, one of the members, tries to voice her tiny sound against 100 students and instruct the way to fold the white triangle to tie wound.

Group of first aid instructor invented in January 2011; in each state university there are 5 instructors. This idea is the idea of H.E. Bun Ranny, president of Red Cross, after having a tragedy on Pich Bridge.

Roeut Sokhon, 26 year-old, leader of the group said that in 2005, 2006, 2008 there were only First aid course which the instructors were assigned from Red Cross but today his group, the Royal University of Phnom Penh’s students, become a First Aid instructor in RUPP; his group is the first group for RUPP.

“We are new both experiences in coaching first aid and in instructing group of students” said all members.

Chhoun Sor Phorn, 21 year-old, one of the instructors said that when she first demonstrated the first aid strategies she felt so nervous. That made participations laughed at them and had too much fun in the room; especially when she had to do real example such as artificial respiration to person.

One of the First aid instructor a 21 year-old Ath Vannyat cut, “It’s hard for us to do well since we are young and new for coaching, sometime we fear until confusing the way to put a safe sleep to an exampling patient”

With a nodding head Yong Yev, 21 year-old, one of the instructors, added, “Some participations did not listen to us because they think we are young and less experiences; they asked questions to challenge us”

On asking how did they used the first aid to help people when they meet and what is the result they all change their faces down; then they explained that they have experienced the same thing when encountering patient in place who is either their relatives or neighbor, they try to convince them and help by using all strategies they have been trained from Red Cross instructor; however, they were rejected and banned not to help the patient from adult.

Anyway, Chum Ryda, 20 year-old is one of the instructors, claimed that she succeeded to help a traffic accident patient by applying first aid strategy and people around her let her help the patient.

Yong Yev added that if we do not want to trade off one thing we have to work hard, just like when asked to be one of first aid instructor at that time in one week he had a final exam, however, he still took a first aid instructor course.

“At that time we had very tough time” said Yong Yev. ”
