Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn and his Timorese counterpart Adaljiza Magno agreed to resume trade activities and accelerate pending agreements on other sectors.

The pledged was made during Magno’s official visit to Cambodia from January 26-29 when she met many Cambodian leaders including Prime Minister Hun Sen, according to the foreign ministry's press statement.

It said Cambodia and East Timor had signed a few memorandum of understanding (MoU) and agreements on economic, commercial and technical cooperation and between the two countries' chambers of commerce.

“On trade and investment, both sides agreed on the need to resume momentum in trade activities and cooperation by encouraging their respective relevant institutions to effectively implement the existing signed documents.”

“They also encouraged the acceleration of the negotiation on pending MoUs/Agreements on tourism sector, trade, education, and air service,” the ministry said.

It said Sokhonn has accepted an invitation to visit East Timor at a convenient time.

Sokhonn also reaffirmed Cambodia’s support for East Timor’s bid for ASEAN membership.
