Another one million doses of Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccines touched down in Phnom Penh on the afternoon of June 12, marking the seventh shipment obtained from China though purchases and donations.

According to Prime Minister Hun Sen, 4.5 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines are expected to arrive in the Kingdom this month, in line with his plan to inoculate at least five to six million people by the end of this year.

As of June 12, Cambodia had received more than eight million doses, with most procured from China.

To accelerate the vaccination drive with the goal of achieving herd immunity in 2022, Hun Sen said the government had been striving to procure vaccines from the other sources, including from India.

According to the Ministry of Health, Cambodia has vaccinated more than 2.8 million people, or 28.36 per cent of the targeted 10 million.
