Most deceased Covid-19 patients are elderly people and those who have chronic illnesses, according to Ministry of Health spokeswoman Or Vandine.

Speaking to mark the end of Covid-19 vaccination campaign in Phnom Penh on July 8, Vandine noted that most patients who died from the disease were aged 50 and older.

“Vaccine plays a vital role in helping prevent patients from developing severe conditions which could lead to death,” she said.

Although individuals have been vaccinated, they must protect themselves properly from transmission by adhering to health measures, she advised.

As of July 8, Cambodia had logged 825 fatalities.
