Minister of Interior Sar Kheng provided more than $87,000 in allowances to on-duty officers amid the lockdown of Phnom Penh and adjacent Kandal provincial town Takmao.

In a letter to National Police chief Neth Savoeun on April 22, Kheng said the $87,000 is for 1,244 police officers on standby at every checkpoint in Phnom Penh and Takmao. Each officer received $70.

Separately, Prime Minister Hun Sen and his wife Bun Rany announced an offering of alms to 142 pagodas in the lockdown areas.

As of April 22, a total of 41 pagodas had received the food alms, while the rest will get them in the coming days, according to the Ministry of Information.
