A Cambodian delegation is attending the 54th ASEAN Senior Transport Official Meeting (STOM), which is being held on October 14 and 15 in Bali, Indonesia.

The delegation is led by Chhieng Pich, general director of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport’s General Department of Logistics, according to the ministry.

The ministry said the meeting was being held to review the Kuala Lumpur Transport Strategic Plan 2016-2025, and to set goals and action plans for its implementation.

The meeting would also discuss preparations for the 28th ASEAN Public Works Minister Meeting, which will take place from October 16-17.

“The 54th STOM is an opportunity for attendees to discuss weaknesses, strengths, challenges, and solutions in the sector. This includes transportation by air, waterways and sea, and by land. Sustainable transportation will be a focus of the meeting,” said the ministry.

The meeting will also discuss new projects which will be implemented through ASEAN dialogue partnerships with Japan, China and South Korea. It will establish sources of financial and technical assistance to make the implementation of the strategic plan successful, it added.
