The Battambang Provincial Administration informed Battambang town residents of its plans to upgrade and beautify the town, especially around its restored colonial buildings.

In a notice released on February 25, the administration said the upgrades will be carried out from streets 1 to 3, as well as around the Battambang Market.

To make this work possible, the authorities asked residents and shop owners in the area to remove all advertising signage along the streets and to follow instructions regarding the construction of roofs which protrude into the street.

“All vendors are absolutely forbidden from using the pavement in front of these buildings for commercial purposes.

“The provincial administration hopes owners of houses and businesses in the area will cooperate with the authorities regarding these regulations," it said.
