The Battambang Provincial Administration will extend the closure of 59 markets across the province for another week through August 21 to curb the spread of the Covid-19, especially its Delta variant.
According to a notice dated August 12, the extension is due to the fact that the number of Covid-19 patients in this province has recently increased.
The province first shut the markets on August 1.
As of August 12, the province had recorded a total of 4,450 cases with 2,929 recoveries and 54 deaths.
