At least 43 garment workers were injured -- four critically -- on Wednesday in the second serious road accident involving workers from the same factory in Svay Rieng province in as many days.

The crash occurred in Svay Rieng town’s Prey Chhlak commune when a truck carrying chickens overtook carelessly and smashed head on into a minivan taking You Li International Factory employees to work on Wednesday morning.

The four critically injured were sent to Phnom Penh's Calmette Hospital, while the others were being treated at Svay Rieng Referral Hospital.

The driver of the minivan, which was knocked onto its roof with the force of the impact, suffered a broken right thigh, while the driver of the truck fled the scene.

Police are searching for the truck driver, Provincial Department of Labour and Vocational Training director Has Bunthy told The Post.

Two garment workers were killed and more than 30 others injured on Tuesday in a road accident in Svay Rieng province’s Svay Teap district.
