Proponents of a new children’s hospital in Siem Reap province say they hope the institution will help lower infant mortality rates. Long Sedtha, country director of Friends Without a Border in Cambodia, said the Koma Angkor Hospital for children under 16 should open by the end of the year in Sout Nikum district. Cambodia has the highest infant and under-5 mortality rate in the region, at 97 and 141 per 1,000 live births respectively, according to UNICEF.
