Lightning has been a deadlier threat than usual in Cambodia this year, said a senior official at the National Committee for Disaster Management (NCDM). Nhim Vanda, first deputy president of NCDM, told the Post November 5 that more people were killed by lightning strikes this year than previous years. He said an estimated 83 people had died as a result of lightning this year. In 2007, 33 people were reported to have died as a result of lightning strikes.
