Twenty tonnes of old batteries collected from schools, markets and
hotels over the past two years will be sent to Belgium for recycling,
City Hall announced Thursday. The effort is intended to reduce the
environmental impact of the improper disposal of batteries. "Battery
waste affects people's health and the environment," said Phnom Penh
Deputy Governor Mann Chhoeun.
