A 45-year-old British man was injured after two men tried to snatch his girlfriend’s necklace while they were travelling on a motorbike on Tuesday in Chamkarmon district’s Phsar Doeum Thkov commune in the capital.

The victim, who was identified as Adam Pursglove, told The Post on Thursday that he and his girlfriend had just left Olympic Stadium after morning exercises when two men on a motorbike suddenly appeared from behind. The duo followed the couple for five minutes before attempting to snatch the necklace.

“They [the two men] drove up close to us. I’m not sure if their motorbike hit mine. I just lost control. I crashed when they tried to rob us. My body was badly hurt, I fell to the ground.

“It happened very quickly and then they drove away very quickly. I have pain in my leg. My shoulder is very bad. My girlfriend was leaning on my body, I hit the street. She is okay,” he said.

Pursglove, who always wears a GoPro camera, had clear video and captured one of the men’s faces, their motorbike and its licence plate number, he said.

He did not go immediately to the police because he did not know where to go, he said. He could not walk properly and did not have a clear head. He wandered about asking people where the nearest police station was.

About two hours after the incident, Pursglove went to Phsar Doeum Thkov commune police station and showed the video evidence.

“They [the police] just told me the number of the motorbike may be fake,” Adam said. “They were very nice, but I don’t think they can do very much. This is why I contacted you [The Post],” he said.

Pursglove urged police to determine the suspects’ identity through the video and bring them to justice. “If they [police] want to, they will find the men. Now we have pictures and we have a video. The police can find the people.”

So Samban, Phsar Doeum Thkov commune police chief, declined to comment on Thursday.
