The Ministry of Tourism, the Koh Kong provincial administration and Thai officials from the provinces along the Cambodian-Thai borders organised a Cambodia-Thailand friendship cycle tour on July 29 to strengthen cooperation and friendship and to reinforce the relationship of the two countries as mutual tourism destinations.

The tourism ministry said that the tour passed through the Koh Kong-Trat border crossing, with more than 600 participants, 192 of whom are from Kong Kong. 421 riders were from Thai provinces that border the Kingdom, including Trat, Sisaket, Chiang Mai, Sa Kaeo, Nakhon Ratchasima, Surin, Maha Sarakham and Ubon Ratchathani.

The ministry said the event is intended to promote friendship and cooperation between Koh Kong and Trat province. The two should be mutually supporting tourism destinations, it added, saying that Cambodia’s post-Covid-19 recovery was largely dependent on international tourism.

This tour was intended to highlight the attractiveness of Cambodia as a destination, especially in light of next year’s 32nd SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games, which will be hosted by Cambodia.
