The Ministry of Health on February 24 recorded 40 more cases of Covid-19, with 38 linked to the February 20 community transmission.
Of the 40, two are imported cases involving Chinese passengers.
The 38 include two Vietnamese nationals and one Cambodian, with the rest being Chinese. This brings the total cases of Cambodia's third local transmission to 137 in just four days, most of whom are Chinese.
In a press release, the ministry noted that its working group is now searching for 15 of the 38 people whose Covid-19 test results were confirmed positive by the Institut Pasteur du Cambodge at 3am on February 24.
“The working group is working to locate them and will provide more details upon receiving information from them,” it said.
Separately, the ministry said the latest two imported cases are Chinese women in Preah Sihanouk province who had travelled to Cambodia and attempted to return to China. They are receiving treatment at the provincial referral hospital.
As of February 24, Cambodia had recorded a total of 633 Covid-19 cases, with 142 remaining hospitalised in Phnom Penh and the provinces of Kandal, Kampong Speu, Preah Sihanouk, Pailin and Banteay Meanchey.
