The Ministry of Health on March 26 announced that another Covid-19 patient had died while undergoing treatment at the Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital in Phnom Penh, bringing the toll to eight in just over a month.

The deceased patient, identified as a 55-year-old from Prek Luong commune in Kandal province's Ksach Kandal district, was hospitalised for severe respiratory infections and fatigue on March 25 and tested positive the same day.

«The man had a persistent cough and high fever three or four days before admission to hospital," the ministry said in a press release, adding the patient succumbed to the disease despite having been put on a ventilator.

As of March 25, Cambodia had recorded a total of 1,872 Covid-19 cases -- 1,348 of which were linked to the February 20 community outbreak -- with 1,056 recoveries.
