Minister of Health Mam Bun Heng instructed the governors of the capital and 24 provinces to maintain education campaigns for the public regarding Covid-19 treatment at home as the ministry released updated a summary of standard operation procedures (SOPs) for treating Covid-19 patients in their own homes.

Bun Heng, who is also the head of the inter-ministerial committee to combat Covid-19, made the call in a July 29 instruction letter with the approval from Prime Minister Hun Sen.

The minister said the Ministry of Health had had SOPs in place for mild cases of Covid-19 since June last year. The majority of sufferers took rapid tests and suffered mild symptoms, he said, meaning that their treatment was almost entirely taken care of under their own roof.

“To increase public knowledge on the necessary SOP, the health ministry has prepared an easy-to-follow breakdown of the best practices for the management, care and treatment of Covid-19 at home. This will make it easier for most people to implement,” he said.
