The Daun Penh district administration has temporarily closed Old Market, commonly known as Phsar Chas, in Phsar Chas commune after a few Covid-19 cases had been found there.
District governor Sok Penhvuth said at least three people – a vegetable seller, a grocery vendor and a customer – had tested positive. Frontline health workers have taken samples of all vendors for Covid-19 testing.
Phsar Chas joins a number of markets in Phnom Penh that have been ordered closed amid the ongoing community outbreak.
Orussey Market in Prampi Makara district has by far recorded the largest number of transmission cases, with a few hundred vendors and security guards having tested positive.
