Minister of Commerce Pan Sorasak announced that the commerce ministry has inaugurated a new five-storey laboratory of the General Department of Consumer Protection, Competition and Fraud Repression (CCF).

CCF director-general Phan Oun said at the January 6 inauguration of the facility that construction began in June 2021 and was completed in November last year.

He added that the 25m x 8m building is located on the eastern side of CCF headquarters. The serves as a parking lot for the facility, with elevators serving the laboratory floors.

“This facility is equipped with some of the latest laboratory equipment and has a purpose-built administrative space for officials to maintain accurate records and perform bureaucratic duties,” he continued.

Sorasak said the commerce ministry had also made efforts to establish or upgrade administrative buildings and laboratory capabilities at the central and provincial level.

“To date, 16 provinces have newly constructed buildings,” he added.

“In addition, we have launched nine mobile fuel and food test vehicles. Each of them carries sufficient equipment to conduct examinations and analyses to almost the same level as our laboratories,” he concluded.
