A girl is pictured at Freedom Park yesterday. She was previously detained at Prey Speu social affairs centre when many beggars and homeless people were collected and removed from the streets.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday sent the case of a convicted German paedophile back to the Appeal Court, citing lack of evidence, court officials said. Alexander Moritz Watrin, 42, was arrested in 2006 in Preah Sihanouk province and charged with debauchery, a charge that no longer exists, for soliciting sex from four boys aged between 7 and 15. He is currently serving a seven-year jail term.
