The Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA) will hold an exhibition on demining in Cambodia on November 21-22 at the Koh Pich Convention and Exhibition Centre.

CMAA said in a statement on November 18 that the exhibition was organised in cooperation with 21 other entities, including all of Cambodia’s active demining operators both national and international and relevant civil society organisations, with a total of 52 exhibition booths.

Senior Minister Ly Thuch, who serves as first vice-president of the CMAA, will be on hand to open the exhibition, which an estimated 300 guests and students are expected to attend.

According to a press statement, the free of charge exhibition will have displays related to the achievements in mine action in the Kingdom over the past 30 years.

There will also be displays of the tools and machinery used for demining, a demonstration by deminers on how to clear landmines by hand as well as a display about the training and use of the dogs and rats that help to detect mines and explosive remnants of war.

The exhibition will also have information on how to rescue a landmine victim, steps to take to maximize danger mitigation in areas suspected to be contaminated with mines and the use of information technology and modern technical tools in clearing mines and unexploded ordnance.
