Officials from Keo Phos Port in Koh Kong province’s Sre Ambel district say a local company has applied for a licence to import scrap timber from Singapore to supply power plants in Phnom Penh. Kong Rany, director of the privately owned port, said Sunday that about 3,000 tonnes of discarded timber imported from Singapore by SL Company had arrived at Keo Phos Port since March 2. He added that the company had imported the timber from Singapore legally and with appropriate permits.
